Pharaohs and

Pyramids of Egypt

We took a Viking river cruise for 2 weeks in August of 2022,

entitled Pharoahs and Pyramids.

There were 62 people on the tour from all over.

We traveled hundreds of miles on the Nile River from

Cairo south to Aswan, stopping daily along the way to see ancient temples in Luxor,

Karnac, Edfu and others. We flew to Abu Simbel in southern Egypt to visit

Ramsesses and Nefatari’s temples.

We started out in Cairo, saw the Cairo Museum,

The Pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx. At the Pyramids,

we were the only ones to go directly inside the Great Pyramid,

all the way to Khufu’s Sarcophagus.

It was 230 steps up a narrow passage.

After traveling to and being inside the

pyramid and marveling at the Sphinx,

we took a camel ride.

The Karnac Temple Complex

Temple of Luxor

We cruised up and down the Nile. Saw many temples.

Went to Aswan Dam.

Took a plane ride to Abu Simbal in southern Egypt,

which is Ramesses’s Temple and his Queen Nefertari’s Temple.

In The Valley of the Kings, we saw

King Tut’s Tomb and

his mummified body

Bev took a hot air

balloon ride over Luxor

Deir el-Bahari, which is the temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
